For me, pure joy was found in a very well loved tape of The Little Mermaid, which almost never left the VHS player. The tiny lettering on the rewind button completely worn off was only the beginning of a life deep engrossed in fun and fantasy. I spend hours with my sisters in the backyard pool playing mermaids and Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles… taking turns rescuing the fair maiden, April. We were free to be anything and anyone, go anywhere in the confines of our backyard. 

Fast forward to present day and I think about how every great movie or book has a thrilling adventure and story of finding love in themselves and others.
The bestest of stories tell tales of the joy and empowerment found in friendship along the way. And every good hero has a trustworthy sidekick.
